The long time ago

Wow. I look around my blog and I see tumbleweeds. The trench I dug against spambots has become overrun with grass, weeds and shrubbery. I know because I delete over 40 spam comments daily.

It’s been so long because I’m now working full time, at Open Text, and playing Halo 3 online when I can. I’m still just starting off but I’m loving every single minute of it. That combined with the fact that my wife needs her share of me as well, well there isn’t much time left for writing. Which I hate.

Working at Open Text is a dream job for me, almost. My ultimate dream is to start a company that out paces Microsoft or become a Professional Golfer. Either would be perfect. But working at Open Text, a medium sized company on the verge of market share explosion, is a whole new awesome. They treat you well, feed you well, pay you well and the co-workers are awesome. I love the team I work with! Two weeks in and I’m already in the top three in North America! Coolio. I still haven’t got my work cell or laptop yet, but thats okay. On-call duty comes when they do.

Thats about it!

Job hunting and Halo 3

So I’ve officially been out of work for 4 weeks now. See I know what you’re thinking; “if he was out of work, then where are my detailed blog posts, updates to the story” etc. Well, frankly I’ve been too immersed in video games to do much else. That and I’ve been writing more of my “novel”. Got the beginning done up nicely and into the midsection. If the book were a load screen it’d say “loading…26% done”. Why 26%? I’m not sure, but 25% seems too predictable and too pretty a number. I don’t think I’m excatly bang on a quarter done either. It could be more, it could be less. We’ll see how I ramble.

Now I’ve pretty much exhausted all my desire to game. I’ve played many hours of Company of Heroes, Tiger Woods 07 and Halo 2. I’ve beaten the first and 3rd of the above as well as rented and beat Medal of Honor:Airborne. The music for that game, I must say, is awesome. But it pales when compared to the game play. It’s a rare case where you simply MUST play the game to appreciate it. You can read all the reviews and watch all the videos, but until you’ve experienced the weapon leveling up, the joy of getting that one last headshot for an upgrade…then you’ve played it. I would like to officially declare it the BEST MEDAL OF HONOR EVER. And I should know, I’m a franchise veteran.

This past Friday was my birthday. Where was my present from you? (PS. Callaway; Danny needs a new set of clubs) HA, it’s all good. I’m still holding out for that super Halo 3 pack that Bungie has been sending out to places like Engadget. I would love to have a customized Xbox 360 and all the works. Who wouldn’t? Thanks to my beautiful wife I will be lining up at midnight on Tuesday awaiting my copy of Halo 3 Limited Edition. Because I’m unemployed we really couldn’t afford to get the Legendary, but to be honest I’m stoked to be getting Halo 3 at all! So, that being said. Next week? Yeah, officially written OFF. Wait, I have a friend going to the hospital on Wednesday, and a bachelor party on Thursday…Dammit all! Oh well, at least by the weekend I should have it beat. And, you’ll defiantly see me online. The first time ever for me in a Halo game. Frankly I’ve been too scared to jump in now with Halo 2 because I would become mince meat in no time. Oh well.

Well I suppose I’m done for the day. Time to sleep and prep for my audition for the church play tomorrow.

Peace
-Dan

Pictures for the masses

So I’m married. This isn’t old news. Rachel and I tied the knot in June, on the 17th. I’ve got to remember this number. I’ve already forgotten the day on several occasions. I always laughed when guys mentioned how hard it is to remember your wedding. I mean it’s your wedding for crying out loud. But, as many will attest, my inability to remember dates plagues me on this one as well. My long term memory is stellar. I can remember things from way in the past in vivid detail. Unfortunately, I can never remember what day they happened on! I’m working on that.

Since most of my family and friends have seen the images, and my host has opened my monthly bandwidth wide, I’m going to share them with the world! You can see pictures of our wedding at http://www.dclabsnet.com/wedding and our honeymoon in Mexico at http://www.dclabsnet.com/mexico.

Aside from that, nothing really much has changed. My workload has increased slightly, but only because I trawl workopolis dry every day. I’ve applied at so many places, I’m even considering finding movie/tv auditions and applying. Just random stuff. Random stuff I don’t have a shot at but want to try anyways. You never know what could happen!

My Laptop has been acting up a bit lately, time to call tech support and see if they can fix it. Our internet has been crappy lately too. I’ve got phone calls to make tonight! Well, thats it for now.

Blessings,
-DC

The REAL job vacancies at Bungie…

I was up late looking at Bungie’s job board, and I was bored as well. I remembered my conversation with Kevin at Bungie and thought this was slightly clever. I know there are spelling errors, but this is paint and I’m not a graphic artist, so deal.

My apologies to Bungie if this tweaks a few noses.
